Oil leak
I finally found the source of my oil leak. The adapter for the oil filter that fits into the block seems to be leaking. Should be an easy fix. I ordered a billet oil filter plate, hopefully I can patch … Continue reading
New front seat & door panels
The front seat, backseat, and all four door panels are finally in. The front seat will need to be recovered at some point but it’s far better than the interior that was in the car when I bought it.
New backseat & temporary carpet
I got the backseat in and put down some scrap carpet I got from a buddy. The permanent carpet will be black OEM carpet, but for now this should help keep out some of the heat and give it a more finished look. Continue reading
New interior
Yesterday I got lucky and found an all original interior set out of a 67 Belvedere II just a few miles from my house. The interior is in really good condition except for a few tears on the front seat, still much better than the interior that was in the car when I bought it. Continue reading
Electronic ignition conversion
I tried installing the Accel points eliminator kit but had no luck with it. Sheered off a contact on the coil, luckily John had an extra lying around. Back to the points and condenser for now.
Front brakes are working again
Blead the brakes this morning. I have brakes again! You never realize how important stopping is until you can’t do it!!!
New Master Cylinder
John and I started rebuilding the front brakes today. We got the new pads on and replaced the leaky wheel cylinders with a set I salvaged from Mark but weren’t getting any pressure. I ran up to AutoZone and picked … Continue reading
Running a little rough
I took the car in to Patriot Engine on Manor Rd. and they recommended new points and some carburetor work. Jacob referred me to AJB Carburetor Services on South Congress. Elias at AJB adjusted the air/fuel mixture and throttle but … Continue reading
Registered Antique
I registered Mr. Belvedere as an antique today. I’m not supposed to use the car as a daily driver but since I have the Sportster that shouldn’t be an issue. The upside is that I don’t have to worry about … Continue reading
Running again
Rick came by today and helped me get the timing and throttle adjusted. Mr. Belvedere is running again!!!
Headers
When I bought the car there were a pair of headers in the trunk. The guy I bought it from said the guy he got the engine from gave them to him after the engine was already in and they … Continue reading
Coated Passenger Side Floorboard with 1-Step
I cleaned wire brushed and vacuumed the floorboards then coated the passenger side floorboard with “1″ Step rust killer/neutralizer. Continue reading
